Mon Reve Napa

About us

The owners of Mon Reve Vineyards searched many years for a tract of land on the Mayacamas Mountains near the town of Yountville in the Napa Valley. They had a single vision to produce world-class wines. In June of 2012, they had the chance to buy fruit from a neighboring vineyard to Dominus Estate. Without any hesitation, they bought the fruit on the spot and the rest is history. The design of our label plays memory to our love for Bordeaux and its many bistros we’ve visited over the years.

our location

Mon Reve vineyards are located on the western foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains near the town of Yountville in the cooler part of the Napa Valley. Grapes planted in this area take longer to mature on the vine allowing for riper tannins, darker color and deeply flavored fruit. The vineyards are west and south-facing, ideal for maximizing the warm morning sun.

The soils

Three volcanic knolls separate the alluvial swells deposited by the creeks draining the mountain range. Soil profiles vary from deeply fractured rocks and volcanic ash to thick clay deposits. The viticulturist of this amazing vineyard separates the property into four distinct sections. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot are planted in almost equal-sized plots.

Our Practices

To further enhance the concentration and complexity in our Cabernet, the number of clusters a vine is allowed to ripen is limited. During the growing season buds, flowers, leaves and clusters are carefully thinned out, allowing each vine to produce a metered amount of fruit in accordance with its age, terroir and specific weather conditions of the year.

The Approach

Great wine comes from great grapes. We take extra care in preserving the flavors of the fruit during our winemaking process. Each pick is fermented separately to ensure the individual lots are available for master blending.

La Vie 2020

Aromas are vibrant, lively with an attractive scent of blackberry, stout beer, rich coffee and mocha notes along with hints of cherry pie. Refreshing with wonderful purity of fruit, refined tannins and long finish.

Praxis 2018

Our Proprietary Red is sourced from rows 3 & 4 of the Praxis block near the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma County. The high elevation of the block produced spectacular fruit that was aged for 18 months in French oak. Expertly captured aromas of berry juice, pepper and thyme are savory yet soft on the nose. The palate is tense in structure but ripe in fleshy dark-red-fruit flavors, all elevated by touches of cracked pepper and lavender.
